Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery Job Summary In addition to the general staff Registered Nurse job description, the Women's Care Unit staff nurse is responsible for the care of women from childbearing through geriatric years and infants up to 28 days of life, supervising and coordinating care with other disciplines. Education & Experience Graduate from an accredited school of nursing: Required At least one year of labor and delivery experience; nursery and postpartum experience preferred Licenses & Certifications Current license as a Registered Nurse by the
State of California:
Required Current BLS certification, recertified every two years: Required Key Responsibilities Performs an appropriate and complete assessment for each patient assigned, utilizing techniques specific to the patient's age, growth, and developmental status. Develops an individual plan of care specific to each patient and documents assessments, interventions, and patient response in the clinical record. Administers and controls narcotics and medications, and administers IV fluids according to policy and procedure. Communicates effectively with all members of the patient care team, including patients, family, and physicians. Provides and documents appropriate patient and family education. Provides effective leadership by directing and/or delegating tasks to other members of the health care team. #Workwolf
