Duties Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed health histories to inform individualized care plans. Administer medications and injections accurately while adhering to strict aseptic techniques and safety protocols. Manage complex medical procedures such as IV insertions, catheterizations, wound suturing, tube feeding, and ventilator management. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation of patient care activities. Conduct diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection and processing, radiologic procedures such as sonography or mammography when applicable. Provide specialized care for diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, patients with developmental disabilities, memory care residents, or those requiring hospice & palliative medicine. Coordinate discharge planning and case management to ensure seamless transitions between inpatient and outpatient settings. Engage in patient education on health coaching topics such as nutrition, medication management, chronic disease control, and post-acute care strategies. Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control standards to safeguard patient confidentiality and safety. Assist in emergency situations with airway management, acute pain control, trauma medicine procedures at Level I or Level II trauma centers or emergency rooms. Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including physicians specializing in internal medicine, cardiology (including cardiac catheterization), ophthalmology (including botulinum toxin treatments), behavioral health specialists, and occupational health providers. Demonstrate proficiency in ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) for accurate documentation and billing purposes. Support laboratory testing processes such as phlebotomy or specimen collection for diagnostic evaluation. Participate in ongoing training on medical terminology, advanced life support certifications like Basic Life Support (BLS), and other relevant clinical skills. Experience Proven experience working as a Registered Nurse in various clinical environments including hospital medicine units such as ICU or PICU; emergency room; urgent care; medical-surgical units; or outpatient clinics. Critical care experience highly preferred, especially within Level I or Level II trauma centers or intensive care units (ICU). Experience administering complex treatments such as dialysis or managing ventilators is advantageous. Prior work in long-term care facilities like nursing homes or assisted living communities is desirable. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks is essential for efficient documentation. Knowledge of infectious disease care protocols and infection control practices is required. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse patient populations including pediatrics (neonatal ventilator use), geriatrics (memory/dementia/dementia care), behavioral health patients, and individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges. Experience with medical imaging procedures like sonography or mammography is a plus. Strong understanding of Workers' Compensation law related to occupational health injuries is beneficial.
