Consolidated Tribal Health Project, Inc. is a rural community health clinic that was incorporated as a 501 ( c )(3) in 1984 to address the disparity in health care among Native American people living in Mendocino County. Our Mission Consolidated Tribal Health Clinic, Inc. is committed to healthy lifestyles and honoring traditional Native American values to maintain physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and social wellbeing of the community. Overview We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. $ $90,792-$127,753 Job Summary This position is responsible for assisting in the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Under the supervision of the Clinic Manager, directs and guides patient teaching and activities that commensurate with his/her education and demonstrated competencies. Job Duties & Responsibilities Reviews nursing plans to ensure data collected, nursing diagnoses, and proposed nursing care plans are relative and confirm with authorized policy and procedures. Reviews medical records to ensure nursing practice provided is within boundaries of State guidelines and all nursing recordings are in legible SOAP format to include the date, time, signature and discipline. Ensures all referrals for consultation, treatment or resolution of problems are valid and applicable to the documented nursing plans. Monitors the nursing service, ensuring the provision of progressive patient care plans, employing the total team approach including patient teaching and self-care. Follows through and documents all findings, corrections or counseling for all nursing incidents, medication errors, patient complaints and forwards to the Clinic Manager or Medical Director for disposition. Identifies potential problems, establishes priorities, initiates effective problem solving based on clinical knowledge and informs Clinic Manager of proposed corrective actions. Assumes administrative and clinical duties when requested. In the absence of the Clinic Manager, will assume the responsibility of his/her position when requested. Develops staffing schedule for review and approval by the Clinic Manager/ Medical Director. Ensures the staffing levels adhere to the contractual requirements and staff requests for vacation or special time off is granted whenever possible. Assists in the orientation and on-the-job training for all new employees assigned to the unit. Ensures employees are assigned duties and responsibilities to the level of their expertise, licensure or certification. As delegated by the Clinic Manager/ Medical Director, annually evaluates performance of supervised staff according to established policy and procedure. As assigned conducts staff meetings for all supervised health care providers to identify problems, propose solutions, set goals. Assists in the collection of monthly statistics as assigned. Reviews, monitors, and maintains perpetual inventory of medication, supplies and tools as required and investigates and reconciles any discrepancies and reports findings to the Clinic Manager. Cleanliness, maintenance, sanitation and appearance of unit and appropriately notifies Facilities of any infractions needing correction or attention. Coordinates patient care with other departments Assists the Clinic Manager in ensuring that appropriate levels of stock for pharmacy, medical supplies and laboratory supplies are maintained. Assists in the maintenance of a professional atmosphere on the nursing unit as well as a high standard of patient care. Sets good example for the staff through regular attendance, arriving promptly on time for duty, being appropriately dressed well groomed, adhering to the dress code, and displaying the identification badge appropriately and being neat and well groomed. Attends monthly institutional staff meetings as directed by the Administrator. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience) Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited School of Nursing. One year of nursing experience in a clinical or hospital setting. Current BLS/CPR/First Aid certification. Proof of valid driver license, with a clean driving record. A combination of experience, education, and training may substitute for degree requirements on a year for year basis. Preferred Qualifications (Education & Experience) Three (3) years of nursing experience in a clinical or hospital setting. Indian Preference applies to all Consolidated Tribal Health Project (CTHP) positions in accordance with CTHP Policy and applicable federal law. Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of the methods, techniques and procedures used in delivery of patient care services. Knowledge of medical terminology, clinic routines, procedures, equipment and facilities. Knowledge of computer systems used in medical care, e.g., electronic health record, telemedicine/telehealth, databases. Knowledge and experience in medical quality improvement activities. Strong understanding and sensitivity to American Indian/Tribal culture and lifestyle, working effectively with American Indian/Alaska Native populations. Effective oral and written communications skills with sensitivity to lifestyles of targeted participants. Skills in operating personal computer using a variety of computer software. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with management, coworkers, and outside contacts. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and comply with all applicable federal and tribal privacy laws, as well as CTHP policy (HIPAA, HITECH, etc.). Ability to learn and apply program/agency operating policies and procedures. Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently as well as with teams. May be required to possess and maintain a valid driver license or capable of obtaining one; as well as be insurable by CTHP's company insurance. Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Protection Act (ICPA); all employment offers in the "covered" classification are conditional until CTHP has received a Federal criminal background check verifying eligibility to work in these programs. Due to providing healthcare services, employees are subject to an annual TB screen and flu shot, should an employee opt to not take the flu shot they will be required to wear a face mask during flu season.
