Job Description

Wellstar Health System seeks a compassionate Registered Nurse for our Acute Care Med Surg/Post-Surgical unit. In this full-time day shift role (7a-7p), you will deliver evidence-based, patient-centered nursing care to post-surgical and medical patients, including assessments, medication administration, care planning, and discharge teaching. Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and support staff to ensure safe, high-quality outcomes. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nursing care to acute med-surg and post-surgical patients on a hospital unit Perform ongoing patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and recognize changes in condition Administer medications, IVs, and treatments safely and accurately per provider orders Develop, implement, and update individualized nursing care plans Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care Educate patients and families on post-surgical care, medications, and discharge instructions Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) accurately and timely Maintain infection prevention, safety, and quality standards in all aspects of care Support patient mobility, wound care, and pain management to promote recovery Participate in continuous improvement, unit-based initiatives, and professional development activities Required Skills Acute care nursing Medical-surgical nursing Post-surgical patient care Patient assessment Medication administration IV therapy and infusion management Care planning and coordination Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation Wound care management Patient and family education
