Job Description

As a Clinical Nurse with the American National Red Cross, you will deliver compassionate, evidence-based care in support of disaster relief, blood services, and community health initiatives. Responsibilities include patient assessment, triage, and treatment; monitoring and documenting patient status; administering medications and therapies; and educating individuals and families on health, safety, and recovery. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and volunteers to support emergency shelters, blood drives, and outreach clinics while upholding the Red Cross mission of humanitarian service, diversity, and inclusion. Responsibilities Provide direct clinical care including assessment, triage, and treatment in Red Cross programs and disaster settings Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments according to clinical protocols and safety standards Monitor, document, and report patient status using electronic health records and Red Cross documentation systems Deliver health education and counseling to individuals, families, and communities on safety, recovery, and wellness Support blood drives and community health clinics through patient screening, observation, and follow-up Collaborate with physicians, nurses, technicians, and volunteers to coordinate comprehensive, patient-centered care Implement infection control and safety procedures in shelters, clinics, and mobile environments Participate in disaster response operations, including deployment to shelters and field sites as needed Contribute to quality improvement, data collection, and adherence to Red Cross and regulatory standards Model the Red Cross mission, values, and commitment to diversity, inclusion, and humanitarian service Required Skills Patient assessment IV therapy and medication administration Wound care and triage Electronic health records (EHR) documentation Emergency and disaster response Care coordination and discharge planning Infection control practices Health education and counseling Vital signs monitoring Basic life support (BLS) procedures
