Job Description

As a Staff Nurse at the American National Red Cross, you will deliver compassionate, evidence-based care in support of our humanitarian mission. You'll provide direct patient care during blood drives, health clinics, and disaster response operations, performing assessments, administering medications, and monitoring patient status. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and volunteers, you'll ensure safety, maintain accurate documentation, and educate individuals and communities on health and preparedness, while upholding Red Cross standards of diversity, inclusion, and service. Responsibilities Provide direct patient care during blood drives, clinics, and disaster responses Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and monitor vital signs Administer medications and treatments according to protocols Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in EMR systems Ensure compliance with infection control and safety standards Collaborate with physicians, staff, and volunteers to coordinate care Educate patients and communities on health, safety, and preparedness Participate in disaster response and emergency relief efforts as needed Support training of volunteers and new nursing staff Uphold Red Cross values of compassion, diversity, and inclusion in all interactions Required Skills Patient assessment IV insertion and management Medication administration Electronic medical records (EMR) Wound care Emergency/triage care CPR and life support Infection control Care planning and documentation Health education
