Category Schools - RN Nurse Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Registered Nurse supporting elementary students in a vibrant school environment. You'll play a crucial role in maintaining the health and safety of students and staff throughout the school year, working onsite in a dynamic, fast-paced setting. Your expertise will be valued as you respond to diverse, high-priority situations with clear, calm decision-making.
Key Qualifications:
Active RN license in Illinois, with up-to-date certification. Previous experience as a school nurse or in a pediatric clinical setting. Confidence managing multiple urgent situations and prioritizing care efficiently. Strong understanding of the complexities and unpredictability of school healthcare needs. Exceptional communication skills for interacting with students, staff, and families. Ability to remain composed under pressure and adhere to school protocols.
Main Responsibilities:
Deliver direct nursing care to students, addressing injuries, illnesses, and chronic health conditions. Respond promptly to medical emergencies, providing triage and collaborating with staff as needed. Conduct regular health assessments and screenings. Educate students and staff on relevant health topics, including hygiene and wellness. Keep thorough, accurate records of treatments, interventions, and medication administration. Serve as a liaison between families, healthcare providers, and school personnel. Enforce safety, health, and infection control policies. This position offers a full-time Monday-Friday schedule, with 35 hours per week, running through June 4th. As the sole nurse supporting Lakeview Elementary, your impact will be immediate and meaningful.
