Unit Overview:

Acuity Adaptable Unit

• IU Health Tipton Hospital Our acuity adaptable unit is a unique care environment that supports medical-surgical, progressive care, and limited critical care patients—all within a single flexible space.

With an average daily census of 8 patients, our unit adjusts seasonally to meet the needs of our rural community. Nurses here are cross-trained to manage a wide range of acuity levels, making this an ideal setting for those who thrive in a dynamic, team-based environment. Due to the rural setting, our team operates with limited resources, requiring strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and collaboration. You'll work closely with a dedicated interdisciplinary team including nurses, patient care assistants, case managers, physicians, pharmacists, and dietitians—all committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

Nursing Skills Gained:

Care for a diverse patient population across multiple acuity levels. Develop strong clinical assessment and prioritization skills. Gain experience in rural health nursing, including resource management and creative problem-solving. Participate in interdisciplinary rounding and care planning.

Qualifications Requires 1 year RN experience. Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred. Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license. Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies. Why Join IU Health?
