Job Description

Mercy is seeking a dedicated RN MedSurg to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to adult medical-surgical patients. In this full-time role, you will perform comprehensive assessments, administer medications and treatments, and monitor complex clinical conditions in a fast-paced hospital unit. You will collaborate closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans, while educating patients and families on diagnoses, procedures, and discharge needs. Responsibilities Provide direct patient care to adult medical-surgical patients following physician orders and nursing standards Conduct ongoing assessments, monitor vital signs, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition Administer medications, treatments, and IV therapies safely and accurately Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care plans Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the electronic health record Support a safe, clean, and healing environment while adhering to infection prevention protocols Precept and mentor new nurses and support staff, contributing to a collaborative unit culture Required Skills Medical-surgical nursing care Patient assessment and monitoring IV therapy and phlebotomy Medication administration and reconciliation Electronic health record (EHR) documentation Wound care and post-operative management Care planning and care coordination Patient and family education Infection prevention and control Clinical prioritization and time management
