The Outpatient Treatment Nurse (RN) provides direct, patient-centered nursing care to patients in a general outpatient setting. The Nurse performs assessments, administers treatments and medications, coordinates care with providers and support staff, educates patients and families, and ensures patients move efficiently and safely through the visit. This role works under the general supervision of the Director of Nursing and in collaboration with physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical support staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform and document patient outpatient notes, including vital signs, medications given and any other thing related to their visit. Administer medications, injections, and treatments per provider orders and protocols; monitor and document patient response. Assist providers with examinations and in-office procedures; prepare and maintain exam rooms, instruments, and supplies. Collect specimens and coordinate diagnostic testing (labs, EKGs, point-of-care testing); communicate and document results per protocol. Provide patient and family education on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and self-management, tailored to health literacy and cultural needs. Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards. Follow infection control, safety, and emergency protocols; maintain a clean, organized, and stocked clinical environment. Perform other clinical and administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing or Medical Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Licensure /

Certification:

Current, unencumbered RN Nursing license in the state of practice. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on clinic specialty.

Experience:

Minimum 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience preferred; outpatient, ambulatory, or clinic experience a plus. New graduate RNs with strong clinical rotations in ambulatory or primary care settings may be considered.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Working knowledge of nursing practices, clinical protocols, and infection control standards in an outpatient setting. Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and standard office/clinical software. Strong assessment, critical thinking, and clinical judgment skills. Clear verbal and written communication with patients, families, and the care team. Ability to manage a fast-paced patient schedule, multitask, and prioritize competing demands. Sound understanding of patient confidentiality (HIPAA) and regulatory compliance requirements. Compassionate, patient-centered approach with strong customer service orientation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

Primarily indoor clinic environment; regular exposure to patients with a range of medical conditions. Requires standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended periods throughout the workday. Occasional lifting/transferring of patients or equipment up to 25-35 lbs, with assistance as needed. Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens, infectious materials, and hazardous substances; requires adherence to standard precautions.

Pay:

$26.00 - $38.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 44.0 per week
