3003329435-2 Apply for this job now Job Description MedStar Health seeks a Registered Nurse for our Child and Adolescent Psychiatry service. In this role, you'll deliver compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric nursing care to youth in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment. Responsibilities include assessments, medication administration, care planning, crisis intervention, and family education. Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care to children and adolescents in an inpatient/outpatient psychiatric setting, following evidence-based practices and safety protocols. Conduct comprehensive psychiatric and medical assessments, including vital signs, mental status evaluations, and risk assessments. Administer medications, monitor therapeutic effects and side effects, and provide medication education to patients and families. Develop, implement, and update individualized care plans in collaboration with psychiatrists, therapists, and the interdisciplinary care team. Lead and participate in therapeutic groups, psychoeducation sessions, and milieu management to support emotional and behavioral stabilization. Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, coping strategies, and community resources to support continuity of care. Respond to psychiatric crises, de-escalate challenging behaviors, and follow emergency and safety procedures, including restraints per policy when necessary. Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care plans accurately and timely in the electronic health record. Collaborate with schools, community providers, and social services to coordinate discharge planning and follow-up care. Participate in continuous quality improvement, staff education, and professional development activities within Med Star Health.
