A Registered Nurse provides medical care and treatment, educates patients about their conditions, and provides emotional support to patients and families. Works in hospitals, schools, clinics or community health centers. Works under the supervision of a physician or other specialist, and serves as the primary point of care for patients in a hospital setting. May specialize in emergency room work, or treatment for a particular condition, or specialize in working with infants, the elderly or other patient groups. May work as an advanced practice specialists and prescribe medications in addition to offering specialty care.

The Children's Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) program provides services to youth that have complex, challenging, high-risk needs. The short term (90 - 180 days), intense mental health treatment program promotes successful integration of youth into their community, allowing the youth to return to their family or community living situation.

Afternoons 3:00pm - 11:30pm with rotating weekends
Full-Time or Part-Time Education/ Experience:
RN or LPN in the State of Michigan Three plus years nursing experience working with children with behavioral health disorders, direct experience in a psychiatric setting preferred Knowledge of mental health and related pharmacological treatment
Primary Responsibilities:
Receives admission information and assists in facilitating patient transfer. Reviews available historical information regarding admissions. Completes the health assessment. Facilitates admission, writing initial Nursing Treatment Plan. Facilitates medical management of immediate needs per health assessment. Acts upon medical instability identified through triage, documents and actions. Discusses with staff known/suspected negative changes in consumer's condition, attitude and intention. Documents vital signs, behavioral observations and other activity. Calls
MD/PA/NP
for admission orders/transcribes/acknowledges admission orders. Contacts or facilitates contact to laboratory for ordered tests. Completes Medications, Labs, TB Test, External Referrals, Physical Status, Medical Condition, Intervention and Response sections of Discharge Summary. Provides consumer with prescriptions, medications and physician orders at discharge. Ensures all applicable Federal, State, local, licensing, funding, and accrediting standards, rules, requirements and regulations are followed.
