Mercy is seeking an RN ICU Step Down nurse to provide high-acuity, compassionate care for patients transitioning from intensive care. You will assess, plan, and implement evidence-based nursing interventions, titrate medications, monitor complex telemetry, and respond rapidly to changes in patient status. Collaborate closely with physicians and multidisciplinary teams, educate patients and families, and ensure accurate documentation. Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care to ICU step-down patients using evidence-based practices Continuously assess patient status, interpret telemetry, and respond to clinical changes Administer and titrate IV medications per protocols and provider orders Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to develop care plans Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and discharge instructions Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the EMR and adhere to regulatory standards Participate in rapid response situations and implement appropriate interventions Support quality, safety, and infection control initiatives on the unit Precept and mentor newer nurses as needed Engage in ongoing professional development and specialty training Required Skills Critical care nursing Step-down/telemetry monitoring IV therapy and titration Cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring Ventilator and airway management (step-down level) Wound care and post-op management Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Patient and family education Rapid response and emergency intervention Medication administration and reconciliation
