2 Description American Traveler is seeking an RN - Behavioral Health to care for adolescents with complex behavioral and medical needs, requiring pediatric experience and a MO or compact RN license. Details Behavioral health unit specializing in adolescents with complex behavioral and medical needs Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 7:00 Rotating weekend scheduling required 12-week contract length First week/orientation will be 9AM-5PM for 40 hours Possibility of floating to a nearby behavioral hospital location (1.5 miles away) No nursing patient ratio; mental health techs maintain 1:5 ratio during day and 1:8 at night Uses HCS EMR system Certification in Handle with Care provided during orientation Requirements Active RN license (MO or compact) required Valid driver's license required BLS certification required, ACLS preferred Pediatric/adolescent experience required 2 years of behavioral healthcare experience preferred but not required Experience caring for patients with bipolar disorder, depressive disorders, personality disorders, PTSD, psychotic disorders, and schizophrenia-spectrum disorders Experience in child/adolescent and medical/psych treatment settings Additional Information Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans addressing adolescents' physical and behavioral health needs Administer medications and treatments while monitoring for therapeutic and adverse effects Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, occupational therapists, and social workers Monitor and document patients' physical and emotional status, reporting significant changes promptly Provide patient and family education on treatment plans, medications, and coping strategies Assist in crisis intervention using de-escalation techniques and therapeutic communication Maintain a safe, organized environment in accordance with hospital policies and safety regulations Participate in ongoing professional development related to adolescent and mental health nursing best practices Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate All time off must be finalized prior to submission with no changes accepted afterward
