Job Description
This position is located at our new State Veterans Home located in Tradition, MS. First-level Nurse Manager/Supervisor accountable for directing nursing services and oversight and review of work and documentation of subordinate and specialist personnel. Supervises, plans and schedules the delivery of nursing services to several units and/or wards in a patient care setting. Assumes responsibility for carrying out several nursing programs in a public health setting.
•This is a non-state, time-limited position with Mississippi Veteran Affairs. Requires state licensure as a Registered Nurse and 2-4+ years of experience as a Registered Nurse Good communication skills, both verbal and written. Excellent customer service skills, strong attention to detail. Ability to work as part of a cohesive team. Oversee resident assessments and care planning, including MDS completion and accuracy. Supervise and provide leadership to nursing staff across multiple units or resident care areas. Monitor nursing documentation for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility policies, procedures, and infection control standards. Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, residents, and families to develop and implement individualized care plans. Assist with quality improvement initiatives and regulatory surveys. Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for nursing staff. Respond to resident, family, and staff concerns in a professional and timely manner. Participate in the facility's on-call rotation and respond to emergencies as required. Minimum Qualifications Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license. Minimum of 2-4 years of experience as a Registered Nurse. Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred. Experience with Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments. RAC-CT (Resident Assessment Coordinator-Certified) certification preferred but not required. Strong knowledge of long-term care regulations and nursing standards.
