Job Description

The School Nurse supports student health and well-being through proactive medical care, prevention, and education. This role includes conducting health assessments, managing chronic and acute conditions, and coordinating care with families, school staff, and outside providers. School Nurses support improved student outcomes, and contribute to a safe and supportive learning environment. In alignment with District goal to ensure that the needs of the whole child (social, emotional, academic and physical) are met.
Qualifications:
Registered Professional Nurse - Licensed by the Division of Consumer Affairs in the State of New Jersey NJ Department of Education Standard Instructional School Nurse Certificate or enrolled in an Instructional School Nurse Certificate Program Must meet (at minimum) NJ State/DOE requirements for School Nurse Emergency Certification CPR/AED Valid Health Care Provider and Professional Rescuer Certification Current experience working as a School Nurse in a setting with students with special needs preferred. Familiarity in working with students with significant physical and intellectual disabilities. Familiarity in working with students with complex medical conditions. Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills Ability to use electronics for Google Classroom, word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual and audio presentations Must have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative Must provide 3 letters of references from current or former employers or other professional sources and/or copies of recent evaluation when school nursing services and teaching were performed Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, with staff, students. parents, and community Reports to: Building Administrator and Supervisors of Nursing For more information about this position, please visit the Job Descriptions page.
