ADDITIONAL PAY BENEFIT
Employee would be qualified for geographical area pay differential (GEO) depending on experience.
Primary Objective of Position:
Under the general direction, guidance and supervision of the Nurse Manager, provides for the daily care of patients and the smooth operation of the clinical area. The registered nurse will keep the Nurse Manager apprised of all issues or concerns relating to patient care of the daily operations of the practice. Major Areas of Accountability - Nurse Manager 1) Technical procedures - Maintain proficiency, and perform on a regularly assigned basis: a. Start IV's, administer medications and intravenous solutions skillfully and correctly b. Stress testing -pharmacologic c. Hook-up and educate patients on proper use of Holter/Event/MCT. Properly register patients with monitoring company and keep accurate track of monitoring equipment. d. Assist with in-office procedures with provider e. ECG's, pacemaker checks, cardiac event recorders f. Telephone triage g. Patient teaching is a large portion of a Registered Nurse's duties, being able to identify and communicate patient issues with providers is critical for best patient outcome. h. Record concise, accurate and complete information regarding patient history and medication when preparing patient for office visit. Being able to work as a team with front office staff to obtain necessary records is important. i. Room patients and conduct vital signs, including, weights, blood pressures, heart rates, temperatures and oxygen saturations. Properly chart all vitals. j. Assist the physicians and APP's in their daily routine k. Be aware of location of emergency equipment; follow emergency protocol as necessary l. Perform other related duties as assigned. 2) Record concise, accurate and complete information regarding patient history, medications, teaching, etc. as per policy. 3) Support and assist Nurse Manager as necessary: a. Schedule work assignments according to staff member's abilities and qualifications; ensuring equal distribution of duties in the absence of Nurse Manager b. Maintain clinical procedure manual; communicate new procedures to staff c. Float as requested by the Nurse Manager to ensure adequate coverage d. Attend weekly staff meetings, participate in sharing knowledge, information and ideas among team members. e. Assist in the orientation of new personnel when requested. f. Maintain professional licenses as required by the State of New York. Maintain BLS certification. 4) Assure a safe and productive environment of patients and staff members: a. Follow procedures set forth for adherence to the safety guidelines and policies of the practice and OSHA (i.e., cleaning of equipment and instruments, etc.). Inform Nurse Manager of any areas for concern. 5) Completion of necessary paperwork: a. Complete forms at Registered Nurse level of expertise (i.e., insurance, compensation, disability, prior authorizations, etc.). b. Function as a member of the team by supporting policies, procedures and guidelines established by this practice: c. Recommend formulation of new and/or refined policies, programs, projects, procedures and protocols.
Requirements/Qualifications :
1) Individual in this position must possess a current license to practice professional nursing in this state. 2) A minimum of two years of nursing experience, preferably in a multi-physician office setting. 3) Have a strong background in cardiology or related critical care setting. 4) Must assist patients on and off scales, exam tables, treadmills, and when necessary, assist in lifting patients. 5) There is a moderate exposure to blood. Category I.
