Job Description

Mercy is seeking Graduate Nurses for our RN Residency at Mercy Hospital South. In this structured program, you'll transition from student to professional nurse through guided clinical practice, preceptorship, and classroom learning. You'll provide direct patient care, perform assessments, administer medications, and document in the EHR while building critical thinking and prioritization skills. Working alongside experienced RNs, physicians, and care teams, you'll deliver compassionate, evidence-based care. Responsibilities Provide direct, compassionate patient care under RN scope with preceptor support Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor vital signs Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately Document care, assessments, and outcomes in the EHR according to policy Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans Participate in residency classes, simulations, and competency-based training Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and discharge instructions Follow infection control, safety, and quality standards at all times Escalate changes in patient condition and participate in clinical decision-making Engage in feedback, mentorship, and continuous professional development activities Required Skills Patient assessment Care planning and documentation Medication administration Electronic Health Records (EHR) usage IV therapy and phlebotomy Clinical decision-making Vital signs monitoring and interpretation Wound care and dressing changes Infection control and safety protocols Interdisciplinary team collaboration
