Job Description

HCA Healthcare seeks a Neuro ICU Registered Nurse to deliver high-acuity, evidence-based care to neurologic and neurosurgical patients in our critical care unit. In this role, you will perform comprehensive neuro assessments, manage ventilators and complex drips, monitor ICP and hemodynamics, and respond rapidly to status changes. You'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, educate patients and families, and support a culture of safety, compassion, and learning. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive neurologic and head-to-toe assessments in a Neuro ICU setting Administer and titrate IV medications, vasoactive drips, and sedation per protocols Manage ventilators, advanced airways, and respiratory support equipment Monitor and interpret ICP, hemodynamics, and continuous cardiac/telemetry data Respond to rapid changes in patient condition and participate in codes and stroke alerts Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate individualized care plans Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and post-ICU expectations Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the EMRAdhere to infection control, safety, and regulatory standards Precept and mentor new nurses, supporting a culture of learning and teamwork Required Skills Neurologic assessment and neuro checks Critical care nursing and ICU protocols Ventilator and airway management Hemodynamic and ICP monitoring IV medication administration and titration of drips Cardiac/telemetry monitoring and ECG interpretation Stroke recognition and management Use of EMR systems and electronic documentation Infection prevention and patient safety practices Patient and family education in critical care
