Job Description

Ambulatory Care Registered Nurse (Outpatient Department) Cheyenne River Health Center - Eagle Butte, South Dakota Summary Provide professional nursing services in the Outpatient Department for patients of all ages while supporting the mission of the Indian Health Service. Nurses may also provide limited support to the Emergency Department and Inpatient Unit when operationally necessary. Major Duties Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care. Obtain patient histories and perform comprehensive nursing assessments. Record vital signs and reassess patient conditions. Administer medications, IV therapy, injections, and immunizations. Assist providers during examinations and outpatient procedures.
Perform:
Venipuncture EKGs Catheterization Wound care (including VAC dressings) Specimen collection Provide patient and family education. Document all care in the IHS electronic health record (RPMS/EHR). Coordinate referrals and follow-up care. Participate in specialty clinics and community outreach clinics. Float to the Emergency Department or Inpatient Unit when needed. Maintain infection control and Joint Commission standards. Participate in quality improvement and performance improvement activities. Work collaboratively with physicians, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, laboratory, radiology, behavioral health, and other clinical departments. (CLEATUS) Patient Population The RN is expected to care for: Newborns Pediatrics Adolescents Adults Geriatrics Minimum Qualifications Current unrestricted RN license (any U.S. state) BLS required ACLS and PALS required/preferred depending on assignment Minimum outpatient/ambulatory nursing experience Ability to obtain an IHS credentialing package Pass a federal background investigation and obtain a PIV badge

$43.00 - $45.00 per hour
