Major/Essential Functions Clinical Operations:

Provides direct and indirect nursing care to patients. Performs comprehensive assessments, develops and implements care plans, and evaluates patient outcomes.

Care Coordination and Clinical Decision-making:

Coordinates patient care across disciplines, including providers, custody, and external partners. Initiates referrals, follow-ups, and continuity of care activities.

Medication Administration and Management:

Administers medications and monitors patient response in accordance with clinical policies.

Patient Assessment and Triage:

Receives, assesses, and prioritizes patient care requests using clinical judgment.

Clinical Oversight and Team Support:

Provides guidance and oversight to LVNs and other clinical staff.

Other duties as assigned:

Required Qualifications Current RN License in the State of Texas, or ability to transfer license to Texas, or scheduled to complete a program of nursing within 120 days of applying for a position. Graduated from an approved accredited nursing program. New graduates must pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX- RN) on the first attempt. No experience required. Working knowledge of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines. Familiarity with National Commission on Correctional Health Care standards. Knowledge of the appropriate use of health information technology and systems. Ability to track, trend, and analyze infection data. Experience with infection control reporting systems and logs. Knowledge of infection prevention practices and transmission-based precautions. Experience with communicable diseases (e.g., TB, HIV, Syphilis). Understanding of surveillance, outbreak identification, and containment. Familiarity with immunization protocols and exposure management.
