Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health Unit The Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) at Sentara Obici Hospital is a licensed 20 beds unit. We see dual diagnosis behavioral health patients to include but not limited to: Bi-polar, schizophrenia, major depression and substance abuse. We are a low to moderate acuity locked unit. For several years we have had the highest customer service scores within behavioral health of Sentara as well as high employee engagement scores. The nurses work with a full interdisciplinary behavioral health team to include mental health techs, LPNs, Behavioral Health Therapist, Recreational Therapist, Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatrist. We have a team nursing structure - all are engaged in the patient care. We provide group therapy sessions on the unit. Job Summary Provides safe, high-quality patient care using the nursing process. Applies professional standards in ethics, collaboration, leadership, and evidence-based practice. Uses clinical knowledge and skills to meet the needs of their specific unit. Education Degree or Diploma from an accredited Registered Nursing Program Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program BSN or MSN preferred Certification/Licensure Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License. BLS within 90 days of hire Experience None required Behavioral Health experience is highly (preferred) 1 year of acute care (preferred) Previous healthcare experience (preferred) New Grads Welcome!
