SUBSTITUTE NURSE JOB TERMS
Works on call, as needed to provide nursing and school-related health care needs for students, parents and staff. Supervision of all unlicensed staff who may perform nursing duties according to the Nurse Practice Act. Works with and delegates to Paraeducator or Health Room Assistants nursing procedures. Ensures delivery of appropriate health care services and a safe school environment. The on-call school nurse may perform screening programs with the assistance of parent volunteers and make appropriate follow-up referrals.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES
Valid Washington State Registered Nursing (RN) or Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) License. First aid- and CPR certification preferred. Valid Washington State driver's license.
ABILITIES, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of nursing profession and emergency skills. Ability to organize and prioritize work. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with District staff, volunteers, parents, and community resources. Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
