Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Office Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in medical administrative support, medical billing, and electronic health records management. This role requires a proactive professional with excellent communication skills, strong knowledge of healthcare documentation, and proficiency in various EMR systems. The Medical Office Specialist will ensure smooth clinic operations, accurate patient recordkeeping, and effective billing processes while maintaining strict adherence to confidentiality and compliance standards. Duties Manage patient scheduling, appointment confirmations, and front desk operations with professionalism and courtesy. Review and update medical records accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks. Process medical billing and collections efficiently using medical coding including
CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10
codes, ensuring compliance with health insurance policies such as Medicare. Verify insurance coverage and assist patients with health insurance inquiries while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Perform documentation review to ensure completeness and accuracy of clinical notes, care plans, and billing information. Maintain filing systems for medical records and ensure secure storage in accordance with clinical confidentiality policies. Utilize Microsoft Office tools for report generation, data entry, and administrative correspondence. Provide exceptional patient service at the front desk by managing phone communication, appointment scheduling, and patient inquiries with excellent phone etiquette. Support clinical staff by coordinating care plans and assisting with administrative tasks related to patient care management. Ensure office operations adhere to health information management standards and office procedures for efficiency. Qualifications Proven experience in a medical office setting with strong clerical and administrative skills. Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as, Athenahealth, is essential. Familiarity with medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), medical billing processes, and health insurance procedures including Medicare is required. Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies. Bilingual abilities are preferred to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Prior clinic experience combined with excellent customer service skills is highly desirable. memory to complete assigned tasks is required. Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Pay:
$14.00 - $16.00 per hour Expected hours: 26.0 per week
