A Registrar or Patient Service Representative provides direct assistance to patients at a health care or long term care facility. Answers questions and helps resolve complaints; provides liaison with health care providers; may assist with coordinating appointments or addressing billing or insurance issues.

Checks patients in and schedules patient appointments in an efficient and timely manner.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner. Compares patient's arrival in computer to ensure no one has been overlooked. Schedules, and reschedules patient appointment. Schedule first physical therapy appointment for patients Relays necessary messages to staff. Maintains and updates current information on physicians' schedules and protocols. Answers questions regarding patient appointments. Attends meetings as required. Maintains strictest confidentiality. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
High school Diploma or GED required.
Work Experience:
Minimum of one year's front desk work experience, preferably in a medical office setting. Experience with computers, including Word. Licensure, Registration and/or
Certification:
None.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Customer service experience. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, physicians, clinic staff and test/surgery scheduling. Flexibility to be relocated to other AOOK satellite facilities when needed.

None.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a medical office setting. May be exposed to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, biohazards, bodily fluids, and other conditions common to a clinic setting. Involves frequent contact with staff and the public. Contact involves dealing with sick persons. Interaction with others may be constant and interruptive. Work may be stressful at times. May involve dealing with angry or upset individuals. May periodically work outside of regular work hours.
Physical Requirements:
Requires sitting for long periods. Requires viewing computer screen and typing for long periods. Requires normal physical strength to exert up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Requires average physical agility, which includes stooping, bending, and stretching to access files and supplies. Requires normal concentration regarding complexity and timeliness of decision making. Requires normal memory, taking into consideration the amount and type of information involved. Average visual acuity necessary to prepare or review documents or operate equipment. Ability to speak, frequently conveying detailed or important information or ideas accurately. Ability to hear everyday speech, both in person and on the telephone.
