full time/part time - 10 hour days About the Position Cornerstone Care Center is seeking a compassionate, dependable Respiratory Therapist to join our skilled nursing team and support our growing respiratory care program. In this role, you will provide hands-on respiratory care, build meaningful relationships with residents, and work closely with nursing staff and medical providers to improve respiratory health, support recovery, and reduce avoidable hospital transfers. We are looking for someone with strong clinical judgment, clear communication, and a commitment to individualized resident care. Key Responsibilities Perform respiratory assessments upon referral, admission as appropriate, and changes in condition. Provide respiratory care for residents with conditions such as COPD, pneumonia, and ongoing needs following respiratory failure. Administer and monitor prescribed treatments, including oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, airway clearance therapies such as Flutter/Acapella, and lung expansion exercises. Monitor respiratory status and treatment effectiveness, recognize signs of decline, and promptly communicate concerns to nursing staff and medical providers. Identify residents who may benefit from respiratory evaluation and communicate findings and recommendations to the care team. Educate residents, families, and staff on respiratory treatments, breathing techniques, equipment use, and symptom recognition. Complete timely, accurate documentation in PointClickCare, including assessments, treatments, resident responses, refusals, and provider notifications. Collaborate with nursing, medical providers, and the interdisciplinary team to develop and support individualized care plans. Follow infection prevention practices and facility procedures for cleaning, storing, and maintaining respiratory equipment. Communicate equipment and supply needs to help ensure continuity of care. Participate in staff education, respiratory program development, and quality improvement activities. Provide care within professional scope of practice, provider orders, facility policies, and applicable regulatory requirements. Required Qualifications Active California Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license. Current BLS certification. Strong respiratory assessment and clinical decision-making skills. Ability to recognize changes in condition and communicate concerns promptly. Ability to prioritize resident needs, organize treatments, and work independently while collaborating with the care team. Strong documentation skills and a commitment to compassionate, resident-centered care. Preferred Qualifications Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Experienced CRT applicants with an active California RCP license will also be considered. Experience in skilled nursing, post-acute care, pulmonary rehabilitation, or a related clinical setting. Experience caring for older adults and individuals with chronic pulmonary conditions. Familiarity with PointClickCare and skilled nursing documentation requirements.
