Job Description

Category Respiratory - Registered Respiratory Therapist Job Type Travel Provide advanced respiratory care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in a dynamic travel position located in Fruita, CO. This role involves diagnosing, evaluating, and managing cardiopulmonary conditions while serving as a clinical resource and mentor. The position offers the opportunity to engage in quality improvement initiatives and lead special projects within respiratory care.
Responsibilities:
Perform and interpret diagnostic testing including arterial blood gases; troubleshoot respiratory equipment to ensure optimal patient care. Initiate respiratory protocols and interventions according to departmental criteria and physician prescriptions. Administer respiratory medications safely and evaluate patient responses in a timely manner. Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to relay patient status and make care recommendations. Educate patients and families on health promotion, wellness, and self-care techniques related to respiratory health. Complete accurate documentation and maintain productivity standards; manage supplies and equipment inventory. Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives, identifying areas for process enhancement. Serve as a resource, consultant, and mentor to the respiratory care team. May float to other departments within competency; may be required to be on-call during scheduled shifts.
Qualifications:
Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential. Proven ability to interpret arterial blood gases and perform advanced respiratory care procedures. Strong communication and patient education skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Willingness to travel and adapt to new clinical environments.
