Job Description

HCA Healthcare is seeking a Certified Respiratory Therapist specializing in critical care to deliver high-quality respiratory services to acute and ICU patients. In this role, you will perform ventilator management, administer respiratory therapies, conduct diagnostic tests, respond to rapid response and code situations, and collaborate with physicians and nursing teams to develop care plans. You will educate patients and families, ensure accurate documentation, and follow all safety and infection control standards. Responsibilities Provide respiratory care to critical care and ICU patients Manage and adjust mechanical ventilators and oxygen delivery systems Administer nebulizer treatments, inhaled medications, and chest physiotherapy Perform arterial blood gas sampling and basic pulmonary diagnostics Respond to rapid response and code blue situations as part of the care team Collaborate with physicians and nurses to develop and adjust respiratory care plans Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions and therapies Document assessments, treatments, and outcomes in the electronic medical record Maintain equipment and adhere to safety, regulatory, and infection control standards Participate in continuing education and quality improvement initiatives Required Skills Mechanical ventilation management Arterial blood gas sampling and interpretation Respiratory therapy modalities (nebulizers, oxygen delivery, chest PT) Pulmonary function and bedside respiratory diagnostics Electronic medical record (EMR) documentation Airway management support Infection control and safety protocols Critical thinking in high-acuity settings Interdisciplinary team collaboration Patient and family education
