A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Job Details Click to go Back to Job Listings Sep 3, 2026, 2:43:52 PM HST Title of Position Respiratory Therapist - Pulmonary - Sleep Disorders Center Work Hours Regular Full-Time (Req# 2026-317) 8-hour night shifts, 40 hours per week Subsidiary Kuakini Medical Center Description of Position Conducts polysomnographic testing and EEG testing (as assigned), data collection and analysis, patient instruction and respiratory therapy treatments under minimal supervision and in conformance with established methods and procedures for the Sleep Laboratory. Qualifications and Requirements High school diploma, or equivalent, required. Basic Life Support (BLS), Level C certification required, with retraining once every two years. Current Hawaii Respiratory Therapist license required. Registry eligible (Respiratory Therapy), or one (1) year experience in an accredited Sleep Disorders Center required; or any combination of education and experience which would provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the minimum qualifications to perform the essential functions of this position.
