A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Duties Assess patient respiratory status by evaluating vital signs, oxygen levels, and pulmonary function tests to develop personalized treatment plans. Administer respiratory therapies including oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, and medication delivery using various respiratory devices. Manage ventilators and other critical respiratory equipment for patients in ICU, PICU, neonatal units, and emergency settings. Perform airway management procedures such as intubation, extubation, and airway suctioning with precision and adherence to safety protocols. Respond rapidly to cardiac arrest emergencies by providing advanced airway support and participating in resuscitation efforts. Document all patient interactions, treatments, and responses accurately within Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, and pulmonologists to optimize patient care plans across inpatient and outpatient environments. Qualifications Valid licensure or certification as a Respiratory Therapist from an accredited program. Proven experience in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, ICU, PICU, neonatal resuscitation procedures, and critical care environments. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pulmonology, and medical terminology relevant to respiratory therapy. Hands-on experience with ventilator management, respiratory devices, medical equipment operation, and airway management techniques. Ability to perform patient assessments effectively while demonstrating excellent patient care skills across pediatrics, geriatrics, and trauma cases. Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) or Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems for documentation and data management. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are preferred.
