Job Description

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity in the Birmingham, Alabama area, dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children with a range of communication needs. The assignment starts as soon as possible and continues through June 10, with your caseload and school locations determined by district need. This position requires a specialized skill set supporting students from early childhood through adolescence. You'll put your expertise into action by assessing students, collaborating with educational teams, and helping implement individualized plans to maximize student success.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Valid Professional Educator Certification required. Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology or Communicative Disorders from a regionally accredited institution. Strong foundation in pediatric and adolescent development both cognitive and physical. In-depth knowledge of laws and regulations related to services for children with disabilities. Experience with medical and psychological diagnostic tools for student assessment. Advanced understanding of terminology used to describe physical and learning disabilities. Proven ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data as well as relevant policies and regulations. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. ASHA Certification and ABSESPA Licensure are preferred.
What Youll Do:
Provide direct speech-language services to students on an assigned caseload. Assess, diagnose, and write reports tailored to individual student needs. Collaborate with educational, medical, and family teams to develop and implement IEPs. Maintain meticulous documentation in accordance with regulations and school guidelines. Educate staff and families on communication disorders and support strategies.
