Open until filled Duties and Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Special Education Director and Building administrator, the Speech-Language Pathologist will carry out the following duties:- Applies a systematic workload model to facilitate the organization of the speech-language program within the school.
- Attends meetings, such as faculty meetings, special education meetings and parent-teacher conferences.
- Schedules interventions using a variety of service delivery models, including classroom intervention, consultation/collaboration and pull-out as appropriate to meet student needs in the least restrictive environment.
- Collaborates with school personnel, such as teachers, counselors and psychologists, to best meet the needs of all students.
- Plans evidence-based interventions appropriate for individual students and groups of students.
- Maintains progress monitoring data for program planning and decision making for students.
- Submits reports which meet local and state requirements.
- Maintains current files for students receiving speech-language services.
- Perform case manager responsibilities for students receiving only speech-language services.
- Safeguards confidentiality of student records.
- Completes records for third party reimbursement accurately and in a timely manner as appropriate.
- Demonstrates knowledge of federal, state and local rules, regulations and laws.
- Conducts timely speech-language screenings and evaluations using formal and informal assessments.
- Serves on student intervention team/Individualized Education Program (IEP) team as appropriate.
- Observes students in educational environments.
- Selects appropriate assessments based on individual student needs.
- Obtains additional diagnostic information from appropriate persons and available records for speech-language purposes.
- Analyzes and interprets information to make recommendations regarding the need for speech-language services.
- Modifies therapeutic instructional approaches using data from progress monitoring.
- Demonstrates knowledge and use of statewide testing procedures.
- Abides by professional code of ethics.
- Develops appropriate IEPs based on students' strengths & needs.
- Demonstrates awareness of professional performance in due process matters and litigious environments.
- Submits to the appropriate person(s) and maintains schedule for speech-language screening, diagnostic assessments, and therapy/instructional services.
- Engages in continuing education and professional growth activities related to speech and language education.
- Collaborates appropriately with local agencies to fulfill requirements under child find (e.g., physicians, BCW, Headstart, Health dept, etc.).
- Conducts professional learning for faculty and staff concerning speech and language evaluation and services.
- Exhibit rapport, understanding, enthusiasm and appropriate two-way communication with students, parents, school staff and colleagues.
