Schedule:
15-20 hours per week during school hours, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30

Licensed Speech-Language Therapist in New Mexico Position Summary Taos Day School is seeking a qualified and licensed Speech-Language Therapist to provide speech and language therapy services to students with disabilities, including students diagnosed with speech-language impairments, hearing impairments, or other certified conditions requiring related services under an Individualized Education Plan. The therapist will support approximately 13 students and will provide services in both one-on-one and small-group settings within special education and general education environments. Therapeutic services must be provided in a special education setting, separate from general education peers when required. The ideal candidate must have experience working with students with disabilities and should understand the unique educational, cultural, and community needs of Native American students, particularly students within the Taos Pueblo community. Key Responsibilities The Speech-Language Therapist will be responsible for providing direct and indirect speech-language services, including but not limited to: Provide speech-language therapy services to students with articulation, expressive language, receptive language, hearing, or related communication needs. Conduct universal screenings for all new students attending Taos Day School. Conduct full speech-language screenings for students entering kindergarten. Screen students referred through the Student Assistance Team process or other referral methods. Evaluate students using standardized testing instruments to determine eligibility and placement needs. Provide therapy in one-on-one and small-group settings. Support students with classroom adaptations that improve access to the general education environment. Draft relevant sections of Individualized Education Plans, including evaluation summaries, present levels of performance, annual goals, related services, and quarterly progress reports. Attend IEP meetings and collaborate with the IEP team to determine appropriate services, supports, and placement settings. Complete evaluations within the required 60-day legal timeframe from the date the Consent to Evaluate form is signed by the parent or guardian. Conduct audiometric screenings for special education students. Develop exit plans for students who have received speech-language services for multiple years when the disability is not related to organic factors. Provide suggestions and carryover strategies for families when home-based support is appropriate. Provide all supplies and materials necessary to perform the required speech-language therapy work. Minimum Qualifications Must be a licensed Speech-Language Therapist . Must be licensed to practice in the State of New Mexico. Must comply with BIE security clearance requirements for working with students in a school setting. Must have knowledge of special education procedures, IEP development, evaluations, and related service documentation. Experience working with Native American students or within culturally unique school communities is strongly preferred. Work Environment Services will be performed at Taos Day School , a semi-rural school community where continuity of care and provider reliability are important for student progress. The therapist must demonstrate professionalism, cultural awareness, and an appreciation for the role of the school and broader community in supporting student success.
Pay:
$44.06 - $53.06 per hour
