This role is embedded within a highly integrated program that combines academics, independent living, and vocational learning. Rather than providing services solely through pull-out sessions, the SLP works directly alongside teachers, therapists, and support staff to support communication development across classroom instruction, community activities, and workplace experiences. The SLP provides direct speech and language services, conducts evaluations, develops IEP goals, and integrates communication supports—including AAC systems, visual supports, and assistive technology—throughout daily programming. The position also includes collaborating with staff, families, and outside agencies to help students develop functional communication skills needed for independence, employment, and community participation. Candidates must hold or be eligible for ASHA certification and Vermont licensure and endorsement as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
