PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Assist in translating of instruction, preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements under the supervision of a speech language pathologist
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma Paraprofessional Certification for Educational Aide or eligible for certification
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to work well with students Knowledge of general office equipment Demonstrated proficiency in oral communication in
English and Spanish Preferred Experience:
Previous successful experience working with children
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Instructional Support Assist in producing therapy material and activities Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional exercises assigned by the speech language pathologist. Student Management Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, both inside and outside of the schools. Assist in the maintenance of the personal hygiene of students. Assist in lifting and positioning students as directed by the teacher. Perform or assist with self-help skills for students such as toileting, feeding, Dressing and diaper changes. Other Perform routine clerical duties. Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events, as needed. Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and state and local board policy.

Frequent light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); Occasional heavy lifting (45 pounds or over) and positioning or students with physical disabilities, controlling behavior through physical restraint, assisting non-ambulatory students, and lifting and moving adaptive and other classroom equipment

Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise; exposure to biological hazards (bacteria, communicable diseases)

Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
