North Charleston, South Carolina Healthcare Support Clinical & Research Support Services Full Time Hospital Authority (MUHA) Job Description Summary The Service Line Coordinator is responsible for the decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, quality assurance, and inventory management of instrumentation for assigned surgical specialties. This position serves as the subject matter expert for designated service lines, ensuring instrument readiness, standardization, and collaboration with surgeons, Operating Room staff, vendors, and Sterile Processing leadership. The Service Line Coordinator promotes patient safety by ensuring all specialty instrumentation is complete, functional, sterile, and available to support scheduled and emergency surgical procedures. Work Shift Job Description Education and Work Experience :
High School Diploma or GED. Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) required. Minimum of three years of Sterile Processing experience. Demonstrated competency with specialty surgical instrumentation. Experience with instrument tracking software. Knowledge of sterilization principles, microbiology, and infection prevention practices. Knowledge of instrument names, functions, and specialty sets. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Basic computer proficiency for documentation and recordkeeping.Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS). Leadership or Lead Technician experience. Experience supporting multiple surgical specialties. Associate's degree in a healthcare-related field. Advanced knowledge of assigned service line instrumentation. Thorough understanding of sterilization principles and infection prevention. Knowledge ofAAMI ST79
standards, manufacturer IFUs, and hospital policies. Excellent organizational and prioritization skills. Strong communication and customer service abilities. Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities. Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills.Licensures, Registrations, Certifications :
CRCST- HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution)
Physical Requirements:
1) (C) Continuous- 6-8 hours per shift; 2) (F) Frequent
- 2-6 hours per shift; 3) (I) Infrequent
- 0-2 hours per shift Ability to perform job functions while standing.
- Ability to maintain tactile sensory functions. (C)
