Job Description
•Central Processing Technician•$25- $35 per hour depending on experience 4 x 10hr Day shifts No nights/ No weekends / No holidays About the
Role:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Central Processing Technician to join our surgical services team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the decontamination, processing, inspection, assembly, wrapping, and sterilization of all reusable patient care equipment, instruments, and supplies — directly supporting the safety and quality of care we provide to every patient.Reports to:
Clinical Manager Key Responsibilities:
Record and maintain QA logs for biological testing of autoclaves and implants; document autoclave load contents per AAMI standards. Decontaminate, reassemble, and wrap instrument sets; prepare peel packs for sterilization and reprocess instruments and supplies as necessary. Inspect all sterilized instruments and supplies for effective sterilization, integrity of outer wrapping, and outdates. Oversee storage of sterilized instrument trays, peel packs, and equipment per established guidelines; serve as a resource to team members on instrument locations.Manage inventory:
check stock levels, prepare requisitions, receive deliveries, and restock based on the surgery schedule, check monthly expirations. Implement and uphold safe practices including infection control, hazardous materials handling, emergency preparedness, and proper use of medical equipment.Qualifications:
Education & Certification High school diploma or equivalent required Current CPR certification required Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) "Preferred" Experience Minimum 2 years of central processing experience required Experience in an ambulatory surgery center strongly "Preferred" Skills & Competencies Knowledge of cleaning and sterilization techniques for surgical instruments and medical equipment Familiarity with safety hazards and protocols for maintaining a safe work environment Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with patients, medical staff, and the public Ability to remain calm and act decisively in emergency situations Clear and professional communication skillsPhysical Requirements:
This role requires frequent and prolonged standing, walking, bending, and squatting; full range of motion and manual fine motor skills; and the ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds. There is potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens, communicable diseases, bodily fluids, and other conditions common to a surgical environment.Pay:
