Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and arranging dental instruments, surgical tools, and materials in accordance with infection prevention management protocols. Assist the dentist during oral surgery procedures by handing instruments, managing suction devices, and maintaining a clear operative field using aseptic techniques. Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning while adhering to dental sterilization procedures. Manage patient records accurately in electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies. Monitor vital signs of patients before, during, and after procedures to ensure their safety and comfort throughout treatment. Educate patients on post-operative care instructions, including infection control measures and medication usage. Maintain dental equipment functionality through routine inspections, cleaning, and troubleshooting of dental x-ray machines, intraoral cameras, and other clinical devices. Requirements Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with specialized training in oral surgery or surgical assisting preferred. Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical documentation standards. Knowledge of dental equipment operation including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, sterilization tools, and patient management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft. Strong understanding of infection prevention management practices including aseptic technique and healthcare infection control expertise. Ability to perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques efficiently in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings. Familiarity with dental sterilization procedures, dental instrument processing, and infection control protocols aligned with OSHA standards. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with the dental team and provide compassionate patient care. Certification in radiography (dental x-ray) is required; additional certifications in oral surgery or endodontics are a plus.
