Job Description
The Operating Room Technician assists in the nursing care and preparation of surgical patients. Functions as a member of the sterile team in donning gowns and gloves, creating and maintaining a sterile field, and issuing instruments to surgeons. High school diploma or equivalent. Current BCLS required. Current successful completion of ORT training program,certification preferred. Possess a thorough knowledge of the nursing process. Ability to recognize changes, symptoms, or other problems related to a patient's condition; must possess good observation skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people; be a team player. Ability to work under close supervision and to follow verbal and written instruction. Able to maintain concentration; frequent interruptions. Ability to work in a high paced, stressful environment. Ability to organize and prioritize work duties. Knowledge of surgical procedures and techniques involved in caring for surgical patients, surgical equipment and surgical supplies. Ability to carry out all assignments and procedures as ordered, according to policy and procedure manual. Ability to meet the demands of an active position; requires more than normal exertion or coordination; require prolonged walking or standing; requires ability to work under conditions which are uncomfortable and inconvenient. Prior experience is preferred.
