Job Description

We are hiring a Surgical Technologist to support our Operating Room team and help provide safe, efficient, and high-quality care throughout surgical procedures. This is a Full-Time, benefits-eligible position working 4x10-hour shifts, Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position includes occasional night and weekend call, with no holiday shifts. We are looking for a skilled Surgical Technologist who is reliable, detail-oriented, has strong interpersonal skills, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical environment. Pay starts at $24.36/hour and is built out based on experience. Contribute to a team-oriented environment through cooperative communication, problem-solving, and collaboration with coworkers. Prepare, organize, and maintain the sterile field for surgical procedures. Manage and pass surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment to the surgeon and surgical team during procedures. Safeguard and maintain control of the sterile table, including large, delicate, and specialized instruments. Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy and surgical procedures and anticipate the needs of the surgeon throughout the case. Apply and maintain proper sterile and aseptic technique throughout surgical procedures. Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and prepare surgical instruments for terminal sterilization. Assist with cleaning and preparing the Operating Room between cases and preparing supplies for the next day's procedures. Demonstrate basic knowledge of medications used during surgical procedures, excluding anesthesia medications, and follow appropriate procedures for medication handling and identification. Accurately follow established policies and procedures for handling, labeling, and documenting medications. Function effectively during emergencies and stressful situations by remaining calm, following direction, and responding appropriately. Assist with positioning and transferring patients as necessary. Assist with moving surgical equipment and supplies as needed. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized surgical environment. Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology or Operating Room Technician program. Current BLS certification required. Surgical Technologist certification preferred. One year of Operating Room experience within the last 3-5 years preferred. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods during surgical procedures. Ability to frequently lift up to 40 pounds and assist with transferring patients and moving large pieces of equipment. Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a surgical team. Why Midwest Surgical Hospital?
