Summary:

Under the direction from the professional Registered Nurse assists in providing optimal patient care in the Operating Room by organizing and preparing the sterile field, handling instruments, and may assist the surgeon under their direct supervision. Establishes positive relationships through communication development of self and fulfilling responsibilities as an employee at St. Joseph Health Services of Rhode Island.

Education:

Graduate of Surgical Technology School preferred. Five or more years' experience as an OR Tech will be considered.

Licensure:

CST or CST attainment within 6 months required OR 20 (twenty) or more years experience as an OR Tech.

Skills and Abilities:

Skills in organization and priority setting. Ability to work cooperatively with peers and other disciplines. Ability to utilize sound interpersonal skills when interacting with patients and taking into consideration cultural background, linguistic skills and age of customers. Maintains information confidential (HIPAA) Demonstrated customer service skills Ability to responsive customer service skills when interacting and taking into consideration cultural background, linguistic skills and age of customers Ability to work cooperatively with peers and other disciplines Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with peers and other interdisciplinary teams. Visual acuity and hand dexterity. Physical ability involves variety of body movements including stooping, bending, kneeling, lifting, standing, walking, twisting, stretching and reaching.
