Job Description

Job Summary Filer High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our faculty as a full-time Social Studies Teacher. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore and understand the complexities of history, geography, civics, and economics. This role requires a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment, encouraging critical thinking, and promoting civic engagement among students. The Social Studies Teacher will collaborate with colleagues, engage with the community, and support the overall mission of Filer High School. Responsibilities Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and promote student learning in social studies. Assess and evaluate student progress through various methods, including tests, projects, and class participation. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and encourages student participation and collaboration. Utilize technology and multimedia resources to enhance instructional delivery and student engagement. Foster critical thinking and analytical skills through discussions, debates, and hands-on activities. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events. Collaborate with fellow teachers to integrate cross-curricular approaches and support school-wide initiatives. Stay informed about current events and trends in social studies education to continually enhance teaching practices. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Social Studies Education, History, Political Science, or a related field. Valid teaching certification or licensure in social studies for the state of Idaho or the ability to attain one. Strong knowledge of social studies content, including history, geography, civics, and economics. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and colleagues. Ability to create an inclusive and respectful classroom environment that values diversity. Experience with differentiated instruction and varied assessment methods to meet the needs of all learners. Proficiency in using technology for teaching and classroom management. Commitment to ongoing professional development and collaboration with peers. Previous teaching experience at the high school level is preferred but not required.
