Bakery Assistant Savannah Scone Company Savannah, GA Job Details Part-time $14 - $18 an hour 4 hours ago Benefits Employee discount Qualifications Food production Food handling Packing Customer inquiry handling Packaging Picking & packing Full Job Description Bakery Assistant Savannah Scone Company (SSC) is seeking a Bakery Assistant to join our team and rapidly growing business. The ideal candidate for this role is a dependable self-starter who is willing and motivated to learn. The successful candidate will have a positive attitude, solid organizational skills, and be upwardly agile as the role grows. It is important to note that this is an early morning shift with typical hours from 3:30 a.m. —12:00 p.m.; however, there may be shifts with start times as early as 3:00 a.m. , potentially earlier during peak seasons. The successful candidate will be integral to the growth of SSC and may be eligible for promotion into leadership over time. Previous baking experience is not required but is a plus. Having some experience in food prep is required.
Duties:
Weigh & Measure Ingredients. Set oven temperatures and monitor/modify as needed. Decorate product according to customer specifications or bakery standards. Package finished products for display and sale while ensuring adherence to food safety regulations. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including proper storage of ingredients and equipment. Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with their orders and answering any questions about products. Follow recipes accurately to ensure consistency in product quality. Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and maintain an efficient workflow. Utilize Point of Sale Computer system as needed. Prepare and fulfill shipping orders, as needed. Clean & Sanitize prep areas, work station, and equipment using a triple sink process. Adhere to all food handling and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Comply with all health & safety guidelines and company policies and procedures, including adherence to U.S. Food Code, Dress Code and Hygiene standards. Follow opening & closing checklists. Maintain a consistent work attendance and punctuality record. Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by Leadership. Attributes & Ability You are confident & communicative. You have a high attention to detail. You can multitask while maintaining attention to detail. Must be physically able to stand, bend and stretch and squat for a whole shift. You can lift up to 30 lbs, and work quickly, accurately, and efficiently under pressure. You are diligent in responsibilities, organized and self-motivated. You can understand and carry out oral and written instruction and request clarification when needed. You have the ability to operate kitchen machinery and automation. You are reasonably comfortable with new technology. You have the capacity to stand for extended periods of time and work in a fast-paced environment. You are confident and communicative. You have a high attention to detail. You can multi-task while maintaining attention to detail. You are diligent in responsibilities, organized and self-motivated. You can understand and carry out oral and written instruction and request clarification when needed. You have the ability to operate kitchen machinery and automation. You are reasonably comfortable with new technology.
Education, Certifications and Work Experience Requirements:
Applicants must be 18 years of age, or older. While no formal baking experience is required, it is a plus. Previous experience in food prep is required. Familiarity with food safety standards & practices is essential. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. A passion for the food industry along with creativity in baking will be an advantage. Work Availability:
Must have the flexibility to work various shifts, including very early mornings, weekends and holidays, based on changing business demands. There may be some evening, weekend or split shifts required for special events. • This is an early morning shift may begin at 3 a.m., with holiday or catering events requiring flexibility.
