This Kitchen is a high-volume, multi-format hospitality program serving the creative community throughout the day, spanning a cafeteria, three coffee bars, catering, and a take-out window. What You'll Do Craft espresso-, matcha-, and tea-based drinks, and other menu items to Kitchen recipes, specifications, and presentation standards. Dial in espresso and grinders, evaluate extraction, and steam and texture dairy and alternative milks properly to deliver consistent, high-quality drinks throughout service. Take pride in the craft of beverage preparation, paying attention to the details that make a drink great: espresso quality, milk texture, recipe accuracy, temperature, presentation, and consistency. Know the full beverage menu, including seasonal and specialty drinks, ingredients, recipes, allergens, and approved substitutions, and answer guest questions confidently. Move with speed and efficiency during busy service without sacrificing quality, accuracy, cleanliness, or hospitality including operating the POS accurately; warmly greeting guests, learning regulars' names when possible, and helping create a welcoming coffee-bar experience. Keep the station clean, organized, stocked, and properly clean and care for espresso machines, grinders, brewers, and related equipment, communicating any issues promptly to leadership. Take on additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the Kitchen leadership as the operation's needs evolve. Working Conditions & Expectations This is primarily a Monday-Friday daytime position, with typical full-time shifts falling between 7:00AM and 4:00PM with start and end times varying based on business needs. Represent Joint Venture Restaurant Group, Kitchen, our partners, and our staff professionally, communicating respectfully and staying solutions-oriented. Demonstrate teamwork, a positive attitude, and strong, respectful communication. Follow all food safety, sanitation, health, safety, and applicable workplace standards and laws. Who You Are 1+ year previous barista/specialty coffee and point-of-sale experience in a restaurant, hotel or comparable foodservice environment required. Comfortable learning and working with commercial espresso machines, grinders, brewers, and related equipment. Strong attention to detail, recipe accuracy, cleanliness, consistency, and guest service. California food safety certification required within 30 days of hire. Physical Demands Regularly stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and communicate verbally. Frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, sit, bend and work in active foodservice areas. Ability to frequently lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
