The Senior Barista will prepare specialty coffee and beverages, support team members, assist with training, maintain café equipment, and help ensure efficient service during busy periods. The ideal candidate has strong barista experience, excellent coffee knowledge, and the ability to lead by example while providing a welcoming experience for every guest. Key Responsibilities Welcome guests and provide friendly, professional service Prepare espresso, brewed coffee, tea, and specialty beverages according to café standards Dial in espresso and adjust grind settings to maintain consistent extraction Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, brewers, and other café equipment Maintain consistent beverage quality, presentation, and portion standards Assist guests with coffee selections, menu questions, and beverage recommendations Operate the POS system and process cash, card, and other payments accurately Support and coach baristas and other café team members during service Assist with training new team members on beverage preparation and café procedures Monitor workflow and help coordinate service during busy periods Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked coffee bar Clean and sanitize espresso equipment, grinders, utensils, counters, and workstations Monitor coffee, milk, syrups, food items, and other supplies Report inventory needs and equipment concerns to management Assist with opening, closing, and daily café cleaning procedures Follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures Handle guest requests and concerns in a professional manner Perform additional duties assigned by café management Requirements Previous barista experience with strong knowledge of espresso and coffee preparation Experience working in a café, coffee shop, restaurant, or hospitality environment Strong understanding of espresso extraction, grind adjustment, and beverage preparation Friendly, professional, and guest-focused attitude Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to support and guide other team members Strong attention to detail and beverage quality Basic POS and cash-handling experience Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Reliable attendance and strong work ethic Ability to stand for extended periods and perform routine café duties Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays Benefits Competitive hourly pay Tips where applicable Flexible scheduling options Coffee and barista training opportunities Employee coffee or café discounts may be available Paid time off for eligible employees Supportive and team-oriented work environment Opportunities for professional growth and advancement About the Company Ikigai Coffee at Joint Seafood combines café service with a welcoming food-service environment.
