is a new, locally owned, hospitality venture opening The Village Lounge on Main Street in Margaretville, New York, this fall. Our approach combines an inspired food and beverage program, genuine hospitality, art, design, and a strong sense of place. We're building a small team of talented people who care about what they do, enjoy working with others, and want to help shape a new kind of gathering place in the community. If you're looking for a conventional restaurant job, this may not be it. Barista We're looking for an experienced Barista who takes pride in consistency, care, and hospitality, and who understands coffee service as a daily ritual that helps knit a community together. This role is centered on creating a welcoming, reliable, and grounded FOH presence and is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys people, values service, and finds meaning in being part of a familiar rhythm of the community. We're especially interested in someone who loves mornings, calm and kind in demeanor, and appreciates regular interaction with guests. The ideal candidate can flow in a focused pace of work, while also being capable and composed during high-traffic service periods. Job Purpose:

Lead the execution of the coffee and beverage program during service while contributing to a seasonally driven, thoughtfully curated menu rooted in consistency, craft, and warm, community-centered hospitality.

Status:

Part-time with room to grow into full-time, weekends required Reports to: Owner Start date: September/October 2026

Location:

Margaretville, NY Duties and Responsibilities Including but not limited to: Beverage & Service Craft

  • Prepare and serve coffee, espresso-based drinks, and non-alcoholic beverages according to established standards and brand specificationsMaintain consistency and quality across all beverage preparation, with attention to detail in dialing, extraction, and presentationPrepare sub-recipes for service (syrups, infusions, cold preparations, seasonal ingredients, etc.

)Collaborate with the team on seasonal beverage updates Operations & Maintenance

  • Operate the espresso machine and coffee equipment confidently and safely, including dialing in espresso, preparing espresso-based beverages, and maintaining equipment throughout service.

Operate POS systems accurately, responsibly, and with attentivenessOversee daily station readiness, including setup, breakdown, and throughout serviceReceive and properly store deliveries and inventorySupport with inventory tracking, restocking, and basic operational organization Service & Guest Experience

  • Provide friendly, welcoming, and responsive service by warmly greeting all guestsOffer menu guidance, answer questions, and support guest decision-makingDeliver a high level of attentiveness, efficiency, and hospitality throughout serviceTreat guests with kindness, patience, and professionalism at all timesBuild familiarity with regular guests Team Collaboration & Culture
  • Maintain a warm and attentive service presence for guests Collaborate closely with FOH and kitchen teams to maintain flow of serviceParticipate in daily opening and closing responsibilities as assignedSupport a culture of clarity, kindness, and accountability within a shared workspace Required Qualifications
  • Experience working in a fast-paced coffee or hospitality environment with consistent execution under pressureAbility to remain calm, warm, and professional during high-volume serviceSelf-motivated, organized, and reliable, with strong attention to detailAbility to take direction and adapt quickly in a team-driven environmentAbility to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, weekends, and holidaysEnglish fluency Physical & Operational Requirements•Ability to stand and walk for extended periodsAbility to safely lift and carry up to 50+ pounds as neededAbility to use barista equipment and service tools safely and efficientlyAbility to move efficiently through tight, fast-moving, or crowded service environments while maintaining awareness and safety Preferred Qualifications•1+ years of experience in specialty coffee or high-volume café environmentsInterest in seasonal ingredients and expanded non-alcoholic beverage concepts is a plusFoundational knowledge of coffee preparation and espresso service standards Compensation and Benefits•$20•$30+/hr— includes guaranteed minimum hourly pay plus average daily tips, Eligibility for metric-based quarterly bonus and for paid March reset week off.
