Job Description

Job Description The Bartender position is responsible for delivering high quality food and beverage services in a restaurant setting. Must be at least 21 years of age as this position will prepare and serve alcohol. This position will support the Land's End Resort, a 117-room hotel, in Homer, AK. Responsibilities Promptly greets guest and takes their order. Presents menu, answers questions, and makes suggestions regarding food and service. Follows TAPS ID verification and training guidelines. Ability to enter orders into POS (Point of Sale) system. Relays order to kitchen and serves courses from kitchen and service bars. Prepare drinks to order such as wine, beer, and cocktails. Observes diners to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed. Serves food items to assigned tables in manner it was ordered. Totals up bills and accepts payments or refers patron to cashier. Promptly clears and resets guest areas at conclusion of each course or service. Ensure food stations are stocked according to checklists. Break down service stations and cleans equipment. This position is not responsible for the supervision of staff. Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit's success also may be assigned. Qualifications High School diploma or GED equivalent. Must be 21 years of age or older to serve and prepare alcohol. At least one (1) year of bartending experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality setting. Must have Training for Alcohol Professionals (TAP) certification; or have been formally trained in alcohol management/serving. Observes grooming, customer service, and uniform/ dress standards. Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English. Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to the candidate with a minimum of two (2) years of consecutive employment in a similar operation with comparable responsibilities. Municipality of Alaska Food Handlers Card or ServSafe Certification contingent upon 30 days of hire.

Physical requirements:
Employee is required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
