With each of its limited production offerings aged to its peak maturity, Michter's highly acclaimed portfolio includes bourbon, rye, and American whiskey. Scope Michter's Distillery is seeking a full-time Bar Associate to work at our Fort Nelson Distillery at The Bar at Fort Nelson located at 801 W Main St., Louisville, KY 40202. This will be an opportunity to become involved in the bourbon industry, one of Kentucky's finest traditions while being involved in a world-class cocktail bar program. This position will report to the Assistant General Manager and is responsible for delivering the highest standard of educational and hospitality experience. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

Must have good organizational skills. Must have a proactive, pleasant and positive attitude. Able to work in a fast paced, high-energy environment. Must be able to multitask. Able to adapt to changing work responsibilities. Able to prioritize and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment. Ability to be flexible daily to meet the needs of the business. Must be active and able to interact throughout the experience daily having the ability to stand for up to 8 hours and ability to lift 25 pounds if required. Able to work proficiently with Microsoft word and Excel.
Primary Job Tasks and Responsibilities While Hosting:
Act as the concierge; greeting guests by name walking off the elevator, escorting guests to tables, and starting the steps of service with each table. Manage reservations system (RESY) and coordinate door and guest flow into bar.While Bar Backing:
Supporting the bartenders and cocktail servers by, but not limited to: Cleaning, polishing, restocking glassware. Bussing and resetting tables. Restocking ice. Stocking supplies for the bar (i.e., napkins, etc.) Communicating with the bar staff that new guests have arrived. Delivering and stocking snack trays. Refilling guest waters and snack trays. Keeping the bar area clean (back bar, bar top, seating area, decanter cabinet, etc.). Keeping the bar floors clean (in front and behind the bar). Keep tables/menus clean/dry/spot-free and reset tables upon guest departure. Talking out the trash, replacing trash liners. Cleaning and organizing prep-area. Communicating with Distillery Associates. Restocking bathroom supplies.While Serving:
Handling a fast-paced and busy environment. Greet guests in a timely fashion with water, menu, coasters and snack trays. Provide recommendations and answer guest inquiries related to Michter's and the spirits and cocktail menu at the Bar at Fort Nelson. Check in and follow up with guests in a timely manner to ensure a high-quality guest experience. Provide accurate billing to guest, process payments and closeout with customer including evaluation of their experience. Provide any and all aspects of service as needed (i.e. bus tables, assist with glassware, run drinks, interact with guests).At All Times:
Provide world-class service to guests. Be a positive influence in the workplace and build strong relationships with colleagues. Assist with opening and closing activities. Advise bar staff or management immediately of issues/needs. Provide support to the Fort Nelson team as directed. Maintain compliance with all local, federal, and state laws. Any other responsibilities as defined by the management team. Education and Experience Knowledge of serving, bar backing, bartending is preferred. Excellent communication skills. Previous experience in the spirits industry a plus. Knowledge of the bourbon industry is preferred but not required. Key Competencies Must be professional, practice good hygiene and be punctual. Must be hospitality-focused and interact with guests and create memorable experiences.
