Job Description

Job Description The Food Service Worker position performs a variety of cleaning, maintenance, food preparation, stocking, and serving duties on a college campus. Candidate must be able to work open to close shifts. This position will support the Land's End Resort, a 117-room hotel, in Homer, AK. Responsibilities Prepare and serve hot and cold food in a friendly manner. Provides a positive customer experience with fair, friendly, and courteous service. Assists customers as requested with general information, inquiries, etc. Obtains products requested by customers. Operates POS (Point of Sale) to record price, compile printed list, and display costs. May assist with inventory of items. Maintains a variety of products at certain levels in preparation, serving, or storage areas including service machines. Help with food service record keeping and reporting necessary data to manager. Keeps the retail area clean, stocked, and tidy at all times. Washes food service area objects by hand or with cleaning equipment. Cleans dishes, utensils, pots, pans etc. and places in assigned storage areas in an organized and orderly manner. Help keep dining room tables clean. Neat and clean personal appearance. Follows dress code according to department policies. Stocks various condiments and service ware. Cleans, sweep, mop and wipe down all general food service areas and equipment. May remove garbage from assigned areas, sets up, or breaks down tables, etc. Assists with various periodically scheduled large cleaning projects. May maintain a variety of products at certain levels in preparation, serving, or storage areas including service machines. May stock back storage areas with various products. Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit's success may also be assigned. This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Municipality of Anchorage Food Handler's Card or ServSafe Certification contingent upon 30 days of hire. Six (6) months of training or experience that includes professional food handling or food preparation responsibilities. Six (6) months of cashier experience. Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read, and write English. Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to the candidate with a minimum of two (2) years of consecutive employment in a similar operation with comparable responsibilities. Two (2) years of customer service experience.

Physical requirements:
Employee is required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
