Role Description The Lead Line Cook / Sous Chef is a full-time, on-site role based in Sacramento, CA. This position supports the Head Chef in overseeing kitchen operations, including supervising line cooks, ensuring food quality and presentation, and maintaining a clean, organized work environment. Day-to-day tasks include prepping ingredients, executing menu items during service, managing station setup and breakdown, and monitoring food safety and sanitation standards. The role also involves assisting with inventory management, contributing to menu development and specials, training kitchen staff, and helping coordinate with front-of-house team members to ensure timely, accurate orders. The Lead Line Cook / Sous Chef is expected to lead by example, uphold kitchen standards, and support a positive, respectful team culture. Qualifications Strong line cooking skills, including efficient prep work, station organization, and consistent execution of menu items. Experience in kitchen leadership or sous chef responsibilities, such as supervising staff, delegating tasks, and supporting daily operations. Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and basic kitchen equipment maintenance in a high-volume restaurant environment. Ability to work calmly and effectively in a fast-paced setting, with strong time management and problem-solving skills. Clear, respectful communication skills and the ability to collaborate with both back-of-house and front-of-house teams. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed, with reliable attendance and punctuality. Previous experience in a scratch kitchen, brewpub, or similar culinary setting; familiarity with beer and food pairings is a plus. Culinary training or equivalent professional kitchen experience; current food handler certification or ability to obtain one promptly.
